To find out if you are registered to vote in Sonoma County, California, submit an email request at the Registrar of Voters' Web site.

In general, you may register to vote at any time, but you must be registered on or before 15 days prior to the election. If you mail your completed registration form to the registrar, a postmark on the 15th day prior to the election is acceptable. For more information on registration requirements or to access a form that you can fill out online or download, go to the Secretary of State's web site.

Registration forms are also available at the Kenwood Post Office and three sites in Oakmont:

Absentee Voting

Any California registered voter may vote by absentee ballot. You may request an absentee ballot in writing on the form provided by the Secretary of State, in a letter to the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters, or by mailing in the form in the back of the sample ballot that is mailed to you.

You may also request a permanent absentee ballot status simply by checking a box on the absentee ballot request form. You will then be sent an absentee ballot for every election. If, however, you fail to vote in a statewide Election, your name will be deleted from permanent absentee ballot list.

For more information on absentee ballots, visit the Secretary of State's web site.
